Red Light Therapy

Discover Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy (RLT), also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-level wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular activity. Instead of using heat or ultraviolet (UV) radiation, RLT works at the cellular level by targeting the mitochondria to increase energy production.

Red Light Therapy uses low-level wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to rejuvenate skin, reduce inflammation, and promote healing at the cellular level. During a treatment, low-energy photons from red or near-infrared light penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the mitochondria in cells. This absorption triggers a cascade of effects that enhance the cell’s ability to function and repair itself.

Key Benefits

  • Boosted ATP production: The light energy increases the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the primary energy currency of the cell. With more energy, cells can function more efficiently to rejuvenate and repair tissues.

  • Reduced inflammation: The therapy helps to reduce inflammation in cells, which may help relieve pain and accelerate healing.

  • Increased blood flow: By stimulating the release of nitric oxide, RLT promotes vasodilation (the widening of blood vessels). This leads to improved blood circulation, which delivers more oxygen and nutrients to damaged tissues.

  • Enhanced collagen production: RLT stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, proteins that give skin its structure, firmness, and elasticity.
